About
The t-shirt commemorates our first collaboration with ProjectRecover.org and their most recent February 2025 mission to Palau in search of the missing UDTs. The profits from the sale of the t-shirts will be donated to Project Recover.
The duck logo seen on the back of the new Project Recover BAKU t-shirt is a modern interpretation of the UDT-10 unit crest incorporating more elements of its OSS Maritime Unit history. Unlike most UDT teams Team 10 was a merger of Ft. Pierce NCDU graduates and a unit of OSS combat swimmers. The WW2 period UDT-10 logo featured Donald Duck riding a shark. In one hand he's holding a rifle and in the other a spherical bomb. In a sign of its NCDU origins Donald Duck is wearing an M1 helmet. The symbolism clearly refers to the Ft. Pierce contingent that made up most of UDT-10. We re-worked the logo first by replacing Donald Duck with a duck of our own design that we feel is a better representation of the "naked warriors" the UDT would become with his black swim fins, dive mask and UDT shorts. In his right hand he's wielding a gold spear that references the OSS and its role as a foundational element of the US Special Operations Community and in his left we naturally kept the bomb. Instead of a shark our UDT duck is riding a Balao-class submarine complete with shark mouth. At the bottom of the page we feature part of the design process.
