Design Concept

The Mk II Fulcrum 39 is the second iteration of the Mk II Fulcrum series, following the original released in 2013. The Fulcrum 39 has been resized down from Ø42.10mm to Ø39.50 mm, a size that is at once reminiscent of the 1970’s and more contemporary preferences. The Fulcrum is an attempt to convey our vision of the perfect tool watch from a 70s vantage point and beyond. It represents a fusion and reinterpretation of design elements from iconic watches US Special Forces soldiers would have been exposed to in either Vietnam or in training with their UK counterparts. A tool watch that wasn’t designed explicitly for the military but could have found a place there. What might have been, versus what was.

The Dial Design

The Fulcrum 39 dial masses SuperLumiNova BGW9 paint at the cardinal points of 12, 3, 6, 9 while leaving the space for 5 min incrementations. The dial's negative space enables excellent legibility day or night.

The Hand

The sword hand set has been emblematic of British military dive watches since they were first adopted in the 1960s and in continuous use up to this day. Providing superior readability this design projects strength and elegance.

The Case

Sized at a democratic 39mm the case works well on a wide range of wrists. Its features were tailored for high usability and serviceability with a screw in case tube, drilled lugs for shoulderless pins, and a 20mm strap width. The lugs feature chamfered edges for a vintage feel and to maintain a classic balance between the bezel diameter and lug while retaining the most common modern strap size.

Crystal & Bezel

The unidirectional 120-click bezel is designed to fully support the bezel inlay to improve overall longevity and impact resistance. The bezel inlay is tried and true anodized aluminum for its resilience vs ceramic materials and its ability to age gracefully.

We purposefully designed the watch to use a standard double domed crystal for increased durability and lower cost of maintenance compared to a box crystal. The crystal is AR coated on the interior surface only for scratch resistance and long term legibility.

The Bracelet

The solid-end piece bracelet features quick release spring bars for fast changes to lighter weight or pass through strap options. The fully articulated 20 mm bracelet tapers to a 16 mm wide NodeX quick extension clasp.
